History
In 1983, Wilson Seaborn started Sussex Tours to satisfy his desire to own a business. At the time, he was working at AT&T as a business services analyst. His professional responsibilities at AT&T required a great deal of traveling on behalf of the company, which he enjoyed a lot. This fondness for travel as well as the desire to become an entrepreneur ignited an interest to research travel as a profession.
Finding that the travel and tourism industry is one of the nation's largest services export industries, one of the largest retail industries, one of the largest revenue producers and one of the largest employers, Wilson felt that surely this was a path worth following.
Though these things served as the impetus for starting Sussex Tours, for Wilson there is more to the story. Growing up in rural Virginia, he had a desire to explore his environment. As a young kid he was always adventurous. His cousins and he would venture into the woods to learn about its mysteries, the inhabitants, its beauty as well as its danger. He remembers this as being a source of great insight and joy. Family trips to visit relatives in large cities were always exciting and educational. Wilson never forgot how great and free he felt during these times.
Holding a bachelors degree in Psychology and a masters degree in Educational Psychology, Wilson Seaborn has successfully introduced an unusual use for an otherwise predictable career path.
